Bowtie Bend

Bowtie Bend is a part of Labyrinth Canyon, on the Colorado River just north of Canyonlands National Park, where the river loops back on itself several times, making a shape like a bow-tie. The center of the tie is a thin "neck" which is eroding away; eventually the river will break through this neck and flow straight through, leaving an "island" called a rincon surrounded by the abandoned river meander.

Boaters floating down the Colorado through Labyrinth Canyon float through Bowtie Bend, or one can drive to it on dirt and slickrock roads using the Dubinky Wells and Spring Canyon 4WD trails.
