"There's a big black spot on the sun today ..."

The only Venus transit visible from here in my lifetime. I was very happy that the weather cooperated so well.

The transit begins

It progressed slowly all afternoon

We took a break for dinner, then drove up the hill to get a sunset view

With the sun low in the clouds, the filter came off the camera

Even after the sun was gone, the clouds made a lovely sunset
