I'm an amateur photographer (not a wildflower expert) who likes to hike and tries to identify what I see. I found identification a bit frustrating, so I built these web pages partly as an aid to remembering the flowers I encounter on hikes.

• CalPhotos search page has a great collection of photos you can search by name to verify an identification.
• Santa Monican Mountains Wildflowers -- not bay area, but very comprehensive and worth a look
• Dry Crik Journal: wildflowers and Dry Crik Journal flowers -- not organized at all, and not California, and I'm not sure how the two pages relate ... but they have some great flower photos
• Natural Resources DataBase has lists of animals and plants and where they've been seen, so you can generate a checklist of species for a specific preserve. It can even distinguish non-native species. Tricky to use (use Advanced Search, requires Javascript) but powerful. No photos, alas.
