My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Devastated Area, I idly mused upon the deep mystery of Yahoo P/E ratios as I contemplated the El Nino weather patterns. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 15 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 63. It reminded me of black pearls on flocked paper. Then, I identified M 56. It looked uncannily like the last six objects I'd seen.

After a short break to have a smoke, I added to my logbook M 61. It appeared in the eyepiece like diamonds on light grey velvet. Then, I star-hopped to M 94. It appeared in the eyepiece like cotton candy. Next, I checked off IC 1851. It gave the appearance of its Hubble photograph.

After a short break to cut some cheese, I accidentally located M 42. It reminded me of a waterfall. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I stumbled upon NGC 4002 in Perseus. It was a dead ringer for diamonds on light grey velvet. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I showed some guests M 97. It compared favorably with a glimmer of the Big Bang.

After a short break to walk around, I showed some guests Abell 38. It gave the appearance of blackness. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I checked off Abell 85. It was not quite as bright as spent coals, faintly glowing. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I checked off Abell 60. It shimmered, as if it were Demi Moore. Next, I found by accident M 99. It was not quite as bright as fleecy wool. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I had a chance to see NGC 3362. It reminded me of its Hubble photograph. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I looked for and suspected Abell 32. It was not quite as bright as Gollum. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I tried NGC 3076. It compared favorably with Gollum. Then, I slewed to Abell 57 in Scorpius. It looked a bit like diamonds on light grey velvet. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I tried NGC 5619 in Lyra. It seemed almost cotton candy. After that, I accidentally located IC 1802. It somewhat resembled the pillars of creation.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than spending a day at the mall with my teenage daughter.
