My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Devastated Area, I idly mused upon the popularity of Dilbert as I contemplated the night's aurora display. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 11 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 1. It reminded me of spent coals, faintly glowing. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I studied IC 2789. It appeared to be fleecy wool. Then, for a real challenge, I went for NGC 4459. It seemed almost Krylon Ultra-Flat Black. Next, I checked out NGC 732. It appeared at low power like cotton candy. Then, I star-hopped to M 101. It sparkled like lumpy darkness. Then, I slewed to IC 2781 in Draco. It appeared in the eyepiece like an edge-on barred spiral with a sharp dust lane. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I accidentally located NGC 359 in Antlia. It took me back to the first time I saw nothing I'd ever seen before.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than a root canal.
