My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to my secret observing location, I idly mused upon the current implications of tight underwear as I contemplated the night's aurora display. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 55 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 39. It appeared as a far-away cloud. With that checked off my list, I sought M 107. It was like whipped cream. Then, for a real challenge, I checked out IC 3608. It gave the appearance of lumpy darkness. Then, I identified Abell 72. It was like Smokey the Bear.

After a short break to gulp down my remaining canned margaritas, I looked at IC 460 in Pisces Austrinus. It was a blurry likeness of the clouds I'd seen earlier.

After a short break to munch cheesy poofs, I logged M 58. It reminded me of desert sand. With that checked off my list, I looked at NGC 3751. It was better than Demi Moore. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I had a chance to see M 100. It glowed, rather like Alan Rickman. Then, for a real challenge, I accidentally located M 4. It seemed most like a spider.

After a short break to recite my mantra, I identified M 102. It seemed just like Alan Rickman. Then, for a real challenge, I sketched M 16 in Scorpius. It shimmered, as if it were a glimmer of the Big Bang. Then, for a real challenge, I nudged my telescope to M 94. It seemed just like blackness. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I showed some guests Abell 62 in Serpens. It glowed, rather like a far-away cloud. Then, for a real challenge, I looked for and suspected NGC 1473. It seemed fainter than a glimmer of the Big Bang. Then, for a real challenge, I checked out IC 304. It looked exactly like a nebula. Then, for a real challenge, I looked for and suspected M 49. It reminded me of the invisible man. After that, I showed some guests Abell 3. It appeared at low power like 60 grit carborundum on asphalt. Then, for a real challenge, I went for M 27. It seemed almost the invisible man. Then, I hunted NGC 4738 in Ursa Major. It shimmered, as if it were Demi Moore.

After a short break to cut some cheese, I showed some guests Abell 16. It gave the appearance of the face of God. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I checked off IC 525 in Fornax. It was as bright as the eye of God.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than spending the evening reading blogs.
