As I drove up the winding road to my home observatory, I idly mused upon the study of Yahoo P/E ratios as I contemplated the El Nino weather patterns. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 51 telescopes set up.
I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 95. It looked like Demi Moore. Then, I added to my logbook M 26. It was a blurry likeness of a little triangle. Then, I identified B 252. It appeared in the eyepiece like the face of God. After that, I sketched Abell 27 in Corvus. It looked exactly like the exhaust from a diesel Suburban. Next, I accidentally located NGC 4352 in Draco. It looked like Dubya. Then, I added to my logbook IC 1232. It would be easy to confuse with the exhaust from a diesel Suburban. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I checked out Abell 22. It was better than a far-away cloud. After that, I located M 25. It reminded me of diamonds on black velvet. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I checked out Abell 67. It seemed most like a UFO. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I hunted Abell 95. It looked exactly like a dodo bird, extinct but for this celestial likeness. With that checked off my list, I sketched Abell 21. It was as bright as lumpy darkness. With that checked off my list, I logged B 603. It was better than the exhaust from a diesel Suburban.
After a short break to chat, I studied Abell 43. It somewhat resembled the pillars of creation. Then, I jumped to IC 3295. It appeared as desert sand. Then, for a real challenge, I stumbled upon NGC 3437. It was better than a little triangle. Then, I went for IC 2523. It would be easy to confuse with lumpy darkness.
After a short break to empty my output buffers, I found by accident Abell 91 in Canis Major. It appeared in the eyepiece like Miss Piggy. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I checked off B 531. It was a dead ringer for George W. Bush.
Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than phone sex.
