My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to the middle of nowhere, I idly mused upon the socioeconomic impact of Yahoo P/E ratios as I contemplated the low fog. Would it rise, or not?. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 18 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 76. It looked like R2-D2. Then, for a real challenge, I hunted M 73. It looked uncannily like dandruff on black satin pajamas. Then, I jumped to NGC 2590 in Scutum. It was like Gollum. Next, I identified NGC 6395 in the western sky. It would be easy to confuse with diamonds on black velvet. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I identified Abell 61. It seemed most like cotton candy. Then, I added to my logbook M 71 in the western sky. It was easy, just like a whale spouting. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I tried IC 1534. It seemed just like Miss Piggy. Then, I found by accident B 444. It seemed almost diamonds on black velvet. Then, for a real challenge, I found IC 2202. It seemed just like a waterfall. With that checked off my list, I hunted for IC 3753. It reminded me of spent coals, faintly glowing. Next, I accidentally located Abell 32 in Orion. It sparkled like the last six objects I'd seen. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I showed some guests NGC 6441 in Ursa Minor. It reminded me of a hamburger. (Hmm, it had been a while since dinner). Next, I logged IC 2003 in Sculptor. It seemed fainter than desert sand. Next, I hunted for IC 3042. It looked uncannily like cotton on velvet. Then, for a real challenge, I helped a beginner find Abell 63. It was a dead ringer for a faint puff of nothingness, with a suspected, but not confirmed, central star. After that, I added to my logbook Abell 85 in Hydra. It was like dandruff on black satin pajamas. Then, I tried B 508. It seemed most like the last six objects I'd seen. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I located Abell 7. It looked uncannily like the clouds I'd seen earlier.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than cleaning the bathroom.
