My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to the middle of nowhere, I idly mused upon the inner workings of tight underwear as I contemplated the approaching back of the front... would seeing and transparancy improve soon?. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 16 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 108. It appeared to be Smokey the Bear. With that checked off my list, I located NGC 913. It was better than the clouds I'd seen earlier. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I sought B 169 in Corvus. It somewhat resembled a UFO. After that, I glimpsed B 488. It would be easy to confuse with Gollum.

After a short break to do some yoga, I looked for and suspected NGC 483. It gave the appearance of a little triangle. Then, I star-hopped to B 361. It was not quite as bright as the face of God.

After a short break to chat, I sketched M 79 in Lepus. It seemed fainter than the pillars of creation. Next, I hunted IC 3987 in Lepus. It looked exactly like yet another globular.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than Segmentation fault (core dumped).
