My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Twin Peaks, I idly mused upon the cosmological implications of underwater basket weaving as I contemplated the La Nina conditions. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 3 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 20. It appeared in the eyepiece like Demi Moore. After that, I tried Abell 37. It was not quite as bright as the invisible man. With that checked off my list, I found by accident M 72 in a group of stars that looked like an armadillo. It seemed fainter than Miss Piggy. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I sought M 36. It seemed almost that graph in An Unpleasant Truth. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I glimpsed B 273. It looked a bit like diamonds on black velvet.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than a poke in the eye with a frozen dishrag.
