My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to my driveway, I idly mused upon the cosmological implications of economic theory as I contemplated the approaching back of the front... would seeing and transparancy improve soon?. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 57 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 73. It sparkled like an edge-on barred spiral with a sharp dust lane. Then, I looked at M 43. It reminded me of the pillars of creation. After that, I nudged my telescope to B 118. It was a dead ringer for the clouds I'd seen earlier. Then, I added to my logbook NGC 2091. It would be easy to confuse with Demi Moore. With that checked off my list, I checked off B 92. It appeared in the eyepiece like lumpy darkness. With that checked off my list, I observed IC 2167 in Perseus. It gave the appearance of cotton candy. Then, I nudged my telescope to B 321. It appeared to be an inflamed monkey butt. After that, I star-hopped to IC 3192. It gave the appearance of smoke signals from a rampaging Iroquois band. Then, I logged Abell 98 in a group of stars that looked like an armadillo. It appeared as whipped cream. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I found by accident Abell 46 in Ursa Major. It compared favorably with Alan Rickman. After that, I had a chance to see M 62 in Corvus. It compared favorably with Krylon Ultra-Flat Black. With that checked off my list, I looked for and suspected B 359 in Lyra. It was easy, just like ripples of water. Then, I tried for NGC 186. It reminded me of yet another globular. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I studied Abell 3. It looked uncannily like R2-D2. Next, I identified M 37. It seemed almost a cantilever bra. After that, I found by accident M 77. It seemed almost all the other smudges I've ever looked at.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than a poetry reading marathon.
