On the last (and hottest according to the forecast) day of the trip, some of us wanted a relatively easy day. We drove up to Blanding and headed west on UT 95 to where it intersects Cedar Mesa. There are several trailheads there.
First we went out to see Cave Canyon Towers. You can see three or four towers right on the mesatop, an easy hike (particularly if you drove a Rav4 and can drive in from the highway). It's possible, and not too difficult, to hike down from there to see a lower ruin up close, but we opted not to do that, and instead went back to the highway and over to Mule Canyon proper.
First we checked out the clearly marked Mule Canyon Ruins just off the road. Then we drove out the dirt road just east of the pullout to the Mule Canyon trailhead, where we first checked out the ruins along the road, then drove to the trailhead and hiked in. It's a beautiful canyon, with a lovely creek and spectacularly marked walls, even aside from the excellent ruins.
Photographers: check out the comparison photo near the end showing morning and afternoon light at House on Fire.
That's the last place we went. Up: Bluff 2017.
