Space shuttle Endeavour flyover

9/21/2012, flying over Griffith Park and Universal City, Endeavour makes its final flight, heading to LAX where it will be unloaded and trucked to Exposition Park.

I didn't have a lot of extra time, so I didn't want to risk getting stuck in traffic or not being able to park at Griffith Observatory. So I checked the map and, noting that both Griffith and Universal City were listed as flyovers, decided to try a residential area halfway in between that was much more accessible. Turned out to be a good choice: lots of locals were there, but I was able to park within a few blocks and walk back to the spot where the crowd was, where people kept us posted with the latest reports of shuttle sightings.

The event was super-cool -- except in temperature, which was about 95 F.
