Next day: a planehook needs to be a bit bigger than a fishhook, and strong enough to hold a 30-oz plane that might be wedged in the rocks. We wanted something like coathanger wire, but that's almost impossible to buy, and who has wire coathangers any more? The only place we found that had anything like that was Empire Builders' Supply -- in minimum ten-pound rolls. But they also had 1/8" steel rods, so we bought a couple of those instead, and they bent into hooks nicely. The line is fifty feet of clothesline, and we ended up needing most of it.
