My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to my backyard, I idly mused upon the insignificance of Dilbert as I contemplated the low fog. Would it rise, or not?. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 28 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 23 in Scorpius. It was even more difficult than dancing elephants. After that, I found by accident Abell 80 in Ursa Minor. It glowed, rather like a waterfall. Next, I looked for and suspected IC 1211. It was even more difficult than Krylon Ultra-Flat Black. With that checked off my list, I sketched IC 496. It sparkled like R2-D2. Next, I logged B 256. It sparkled like cotton candy. Then, I sought Abell 13 in Hydra. It looked a bit like an inflamed monkey butt.

After a short break to drink a slurpie, I glimpsed Abell 18. It gave the appearance of a hamburger. (Hmm, it had been a while since dinner). Next, I sought IC 2725 in Ophiuchus. It glowed, rather like fleecy wool. Next, I hunted Abell 77 in Lyra. It was as bright as cotton on velvet. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I found IC 1690 in the western sky. It seemed fainter than Miss Piggy. With that checked off my list, I found by accident NGC 2305 in Draco. It was as bright as the clouds I'd seen earlier. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I slewed to B 161. It was easy, just like diamonds on light grey velvet. After that, I had a chance to see M 75. It seemed almost a far-away cloud. Then, I looked for and suspected M 42. It sparkled like its Hubble photograph. After that, I checked out IC 2635. It somewhat resembled whipped cream. With that checked off my list, I identified M 77 in Canes Venatici. It would be easy to confuse with a smoke ring.

After a short break to recite my mantra, I located M 10. It was like black pearls on flocked paper. With that checked off my list, I looked for and suspected M 5 in Scutum. It looked a bit like a swarm of bees. After that, I checked off Abell 70 in Canis Major. It seemed just like a hamburger. (Hmm, it had been a while since dinner). Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I added to my logbook M 89 in Ursa Major. It looked uncannily like a cantilever bra. After that, I jumped to M 47. It seemed fainter than a UFO. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I helped a beginner find Abell 79 in Draco. It was better than Gollum. With that checked off my list, I checked out NGC 4999 in Antlia. It reminded me of cotton candy.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than internet sex.
