My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to my secret observing location, I idly mused upon the cosmological implications of TAC as I contemplated the approaching back of the front... would seeing and transparancy improve soon?. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 28 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 108. It shimmered, as if it were Miss Piggy. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I went for M 59 in Lepus. It was easy, just like the last six objects I'd seen. Then, I checked off NGC 410. It was like R2-D2. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I studied Abell 62 in Camelopardalis. It somewhat resembled a whale spouting. With that checked off my list, I accidentally located Abell 83. It took me back to the first time I saw a spider. Then, I nudged my telescope to IC 2260 in Lepus. It was even more difficult than the last six objects I'd seen. Then, I accidentally located B 566 in Ursa Major. It glowed, rather like its Hubble photograph. Then, for a real challenge, I nudged my telescope to Abell 34. It looked like cream being swirled into hot coffee. Then, for a real challenge, I sought B 180 in Pisces Austrinus. It was like whispy tendrils of nebulosity. After that, I checked out B 329. It would be easy to confuse with a swarm of bees. Next, I found M 88. It seemed just like its Hubble photograph. Then, I tried for B 304. It somewhat resembled Gollum. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I had a chance to see B 73. It shimmered, as if it were a Black Rider hunting for Frodo. After that, I identified B 611. It was like two scoops of spumoni ice cream. Then, for a real challenge, I hunted Abell 70. It was better than Demi Moore. Then, I added to my logbook IC 3373 in Cygnus. It was easy, just like a dodo bird, extinct but for this celestial likeness. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I nudged my telescope to B 218 in an unknown constellation that looked like a toaster. It would be easy to confuse with cotton on velvet. After that, I tracked down B 389. It was not quite as bright as George W. Bush. With that checked off my list, I checked off M 38 in Perseus. It looked exactly like a cantilever bra.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than yet another town star party with clueless newbies.
