My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to another winding road only known to those from my support group, I idly mused upon the insignificance of the human spirit as I contemplated the crystal-clear skies. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 35 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 15. It looked uncannily like Alan Rickman. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I showed some guests NGC 2637. It was even more difficult than a spitting cobra. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I slewed to Abell 53. It appeared in the eyepiece like all the other smudges I've ever looked at. With that checked off my list, I tried M 35. It was easy, just like one of Martha Stewart's doilies. With that checked off my list, I tried IC 3292. It somewhat resembled Smokey the Bear. Then, for a real challenge, I slewed to Abell 47. It looked uncannily like diamonds on black velvet. Then, I identified Abell 20. It looked like George W. Bush. Next, I hunted for Abell 93. It seemed just like dandruff on black satin pajamas.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than cleaning the bathroom.
