As I drove up the winding road to Mount Tamalpais, I idly mused upon the subtle meaning of cosmology as I contemplated the La Nina conditions. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 26 telescopes set up.
I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 41. It looked a bit like whipped cream. After that, I observed NGC 1448. It was even more difficult than an inflamed monkey butt. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I studied NGC 4854. It was a dead ringer for diamonds on black velvet. Then, I logged B 558. It seemed just like the eternal nothingness of being. Then, for a real challenge, I sketched Abell 52. It looked like Miss Piggy.
Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than stale peeps.
