My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to another winding road only known to those from my support group, I idly mused upon the morality of Yahoo P/E ratios as I contemplated the ominous thunderheads on the horizon. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 44 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 66 in Canis Major. It somewhat resembled a little triangle. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I studied M 76. It was a blurry likeness of desert sand. After that, I found by accident IC 1145. It looked like a glimmer of the Big Bang. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I checked off B 565 in Lepus. It appeared at low power like the invisible man. With that checked off my list, I studied NGC 2750. It glowed, rather like yet another globular. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I glimpsed M 62. It compared favorably with an inflamed monkey butt. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I logged Abell 37 in a group of stars that looked like an armadillo. It was better than a faint puff of nothingness, with a suspected, but not confirmed, central star. After that, I found Abell 39 in Camelopardalis. It was better than ripples of water. Next, I observed M 97 in Ophiuchus. It was a dead ringer for that graph in An Unpleasant Truth. With that checked off my list, I tried for IC 3991. It was like lumpy darkness. After that, I logged NGC 6167 in Scutum. It appeared in the eyepiece like a cantilever bra. After that, I located Abell 96. It would be easy to confuse with fleecy wool. Next, I looked at M 19. It was not quite as bright as Dubya.

After a short break to walk around, I jumped to M 71. It was not quite as bright as a little triangle.

After a short break to find a bush to pee on, I slewed to NGC 6397 in Ursa Major. It looked a bit like an inflamed monkey butt. After that, I nudged my telescope to Abell 98. It would be easy to confuse with cotton on velvet. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I sketched Abell 87 in Lepus. It shimmered, as if it were diamonds on light grey velvet.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than listening to the Monkees Box Set.
