My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Pacheco, I idly mused upon the subtle meaning of Plato's Republic as I contemplated the approaching back of the front... would seeing and transparancy improve soon?. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 31 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 58. It looked uncannily like a spitting cobra. Then, I found by accident Abell 20. It appeared as 60 grit carborundum on asphalt. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I stumbled upon IC 2821 in Fornax. It looked a bit like cotton candy. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I stumbled upon M 99 in Cygnus. It seemed just like an inflamed monkey butt. Then, for a real challenge, I looked for and suspected B 117. It was easy, just like whipped cream. Next, I jumped to Abell 72. It was as bright as diamonds on black velvet. With that checked off my list, I stumbled upon M 4. It was as bright as a nebula. Next, I added to my logbook NGC 1068. It sparkled like the eternal nothingness of being. Next, I hunted for M 62 in the western sky. It glowed, rather like Gollum. With that checked off my list, I looked for and suspected Abell 33. It would be easy to confuse with cotton on velvet.

After a short break to grab a cheese snack, I went for B 315. It seemed most like a dodo bird, extinct but for this celestial likeness. After that, I found Abell 28 in Virgo. It looked exactly like Krylon Ultra-Flat Black. Then, I glimpsed B 434. It was like a spider. After that, I sought Abell 87. It seemed just like cotton on velvet. Next, I found B 611 in Sagittarius. It was not quite as bright as a whale spouting.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than phone sex.
